Review a document with comments

Comments keep questions and decisions next to the document they concern. Select a passage to anchor your feedback, then use the thread to discuss the change with collaborators.

Comment on a passage

  1. Open the document and select the text you want to discuss.
  2. Choose the comment action from the selection controls.
  3. Write the question or feedback and post it. Include the decision you need, such as a source for a claim or confirmation of a date.
  4. Open Comments to find the thread again and reply.

Close the discussion when it is settled

After the text has been corrected or the question answered, resolve the thread. Resolving a comment marks the discussion as handled; it does not edit the document or accept a suggested replacement.

If the referenced text disappears

Strata can show “Referenced text was removed” when the passage a thread refers to no longer exists. Read the thread’s quoted context and compare it with the current document before replying. Use History if you need to understand the edit that removed it.

Make feedback actionable

Instead of “This is unclear,” try “Does this date mean the private beta or the public launch? Please name the milestone.” If you know the exact replacement, select the passage and use Suggest Edit so the author can accept the wording.
