Import a document into Strata
Import brings an existing file or pasted source into Strata as editable document blocks. Review the converted result before using it as the source for agent edits, collaboration, or a presentation.
Choose the source and destination
- Choose Import in the document interface.
- Select a Markdown, HTML, DOCX, PDF, or PPTX file, or switch to Pasted text. The import limit is 5 MiB.
- Choose a new document or the current document at the saved cursor position.
- Start the import, then read any conversion notes and inspect the resulting document.
Check what the conversion preserved
Look at headings, tables, images, and any content whose placement matters. Conversion notes report skipped images, simplified tables, formatting changes, and skipped speaker notes. An editable result may differ from the original file’s layout.
If a PDF imports without text
A scanned PDF may contain images of pages rather than extractable text. Strata reports when no text could be extracted. Run OCR on the source before trying to import it again.
PPTX import is not a slide-fidelity conversion
Imported PowerPoint content becomes document blocks. Do not expect original slide layouts or speaker notes to survive. To create a Strata presentation from that material, ask your agent to build a deck from the imported content, then review the slides in Deck view.
