Publish a document to your profile

Publish to profile creates a public edition at /@your-handle/your-slug. It is separate from the working document your collaborators edit.

Prepare your public profile

Open your profile settings and choose a handle if you do not have one. Make the profile public. If it is hidden, the document’s Publish panel links you to profile settings before you can publish.

Publish the first edition

  1. Open the document’s Publish panel.
  2. Choose the URL slug carefully: it cannot be changed after the first publish. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and single hyphens between words.
  3. Choose whether to pin the document to your profile and how readers should see its code blocks.
  4. Choose Publish to profile, then open the public URL and inspect the reading edition.

Choose how code blocks appear

Clean shows previews without code controls. Interactive lets readers view, edit, and re-run code in the reading page. Choose the behavior appropriate for the document; reader interaction does not turn the public page into your collaborative editor.

Review what will be public

Read the document as an outside reader before publishing. Check the body, images, examples, and any data included in interactive blocks. After publishing, verify the public page itself, including the title, design, and mobile layout. Use the separate Share controls for access to the working document.
